Big Energy

One of my favorite songs this summer was "Big Energy" by Latto. Although the premise was about those things of adult minds, the essence of the song is to basically stand on your energy. I'm someone who often puts my all into the tasks I'm given, especially those that I feel like I am in charge of. I found after a recent project I pretty much took over, primarily for clout, I felt drained of my energy. There were no "thank yous, good jobs, or you are appreciated" accolades., everyone just went about their business. I felt like I had wasted time trying to organize, plan, and do what needed to be done, but here's the kicker: No one asked me to do any of it. No one called and said, "Ashley, we HAVE to have you on this project", I volunteered my services and saw that I was using my big energy in a selfish way.

Have you ever done that? You can be honest, cause this is a safe space. It got me thinking of other times when I used my big energy for selfish purposes, and the disappointment, sadness, and sometimes anger I felt...at myself. I'm learning to use my energy going forward for things that I know are for me, not anyone else. Not to be seen or applauded, but to do what I can for the glory of God. To know that my good works are not in vain, but to be a vessel for the kingdom.

With my 40th(can you even believe it) birthday approaching, one of my goals is to use my big energy for myself, for my ministry, and for the things and people in my life that matter. I challenge you to take personal inventory of what and where your energy is going, and put it toward the thing that matters the most...YOU!
